Understanding the scope, as well as the underlying drivers, of the opioid epidemic is crucial for gaining hold of and ending the epidemic. In this podcast, we first speak with Ken Kolosh, the manager of statistics at the National Safety Council, to discuss the council's latest Injury Facts report, which found that for the first time, the odds of dying from an accidental opioid overdose are greater than those of dying in a motor vehicle crash.

We then speak with Magdalena Cerdá, DrPH, associate professor of population health and director of the Center for Opioid Epidemiology and Policy at NYU School of Medicine, who was the senior author on a study that demonstrated an association between physician-targeted marketing and opioid overdose deaths.
