Number 5: Sanofi Genzyme announced it is enrolling patients in a pivotal trial for its investigational oral therapy that targets the driver of cyst growth in polycystic kidney disease.

Number 4: According to a new study, cellular proliferation generates the majority of infected cells during antiretroviral therapy for HIV, suggesting that reducing proliferation can decrease the size of the HIV reservoir and work toward a cure.

Number 3: Results presented at the American Heart Association provided the strongest evidence to date that SGLT2 inhibitors might be used to prevent heart failure in patients with type 2 diabetes.
