PCOC 2024 Promises to Hit All the High Notes

Author(s):

The annual meeting of oncology stakeholders presented by The American Journal of Managed Care® takes place September 12-13, 2024.

It’s that time of year, when the team at The American Journal of Managed Care® puts the final touches on our best-in-class multistakeholder meeting, Patient-Centered Oncology Care®.

In less than 2 weeks, PCOC 2024 heads to Nashville, Tennessee, with a program that blends familiar features and new elements, some of which have been favorites at the year-round Institute for Value-Based Medicine® series.

PCOC 2024, taking place September 12-13, 2024, at Embassy Suites by Hilton in Downtown Nashville, welcomes new cochairs, Susan Sabo Wagner, MSN, RN, OCN, NEA-BC, vice president of clinical innovation, American Oncology Network (AON); and Lalan Wilfong, MD, senior vice president for value-based care, Thyme Care. Voices of cancer patients and advocates will be heard across the program, but especially during the keynote address, “We the Patients,” by cancer survivor and activist Matthew Zachary. The keynote address will be at 8:10 am CT September 13, 2024.

“This year’s PCOC meeting will offer fresh new approaches to connecting our guests directly with the physicians and practice leaders making real-time decisions in cancer care,” said Gil Hernandez, senior vice president, Corporate Development, MJH Life Sciences®. “This will be the meeting that everyone will be talking about.”

Hear directly from doctors. With the theme, “Innovations in Cancer Care: Tales From the Front Line,” PCOC 2024 gives voice to professionals involved in patient care, allowing them to share insights on the latest therapies or nuances about rules from CMS. For the first time, PCOC will feature 4 half-hour panels to allow The US Oncology Network, AON, OneOncology, and Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute present innovations through their physician leaders.

Fireside chats. Each day of PCOC will feature a fireside chat; day one will feature moderator David Eagle, MD, chair of Legislative Affairs and Patient Advocacy for New York Cancer & Blood Specialists, discussing patient-centered policy issues with Alyssa Schatz, MSW, vice president, Policy and Advocacy, National Comprehensive Cancer Network. The second day’s fireside chat concerns current topics in precision medicine, with Davey Daniel, MD, chief medical officer for OneOncology, as moderator and Stephen “Fred” Divers, MD, chief medical officer for AON, as respondent.

A range of topics. Longer panel discussions will cover topics that include new CMS navigation codes, patient experience and financial toxicity, integrating new members into the clinical pathways process, the expanded role of oncology pharmacists, and whether cancer care is hitting the mark of the quadruple aim.

A new panel, “Innovations and Opportunities in Cancer Care,” will allow representatives from the pharmaceutical industry to join the discussion at a critical time, as health care stakeholders grapple with implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act.

Networking and more. Nashville’s status as “Music City” will be impossible to miss at PCOC! From walk-up music to whisky tasting—along with a few surprise guests—PCOC 2024 has upped its game to offer guests a lively atmosphere for learning and making connections.
