NQF and AJMC to Discuss Quality Measurement in August 26 Tweetchat

As the United States progresses toward improving health and healthcare while lowering cost, the need for standardized, evidence-based measures becomes all the more important.

PLAINSBORO, N.J.—As the United States progresses toward improving health and healthcare while lowering cost, the need for standardized, evidence-based measures becomes all the more important.

On Wednesday, August 26, from noon to 1:00 pm EDT, The American Journal of Managed Care (AJMC) will host a tweetchat with the National Quality Forum (NQF) about using measurement science and advanced data analytics to improve healthcare in America.

NQF’s Helen Burstin, MD, MPH, FACP, chief scientific officer, and Robert Saunders, PhD, senior director, will answer questions from participants and discuss topics that include the importance of getting to measures that matter, leveraging patient-reported outcomes, and the evolution of care delivery models.

“With increased focus on delivering healthcare value, measurement science helps all stakeholders hone in on what is working and identify gaps,” said Dr Burstin. “Measurement science is a burgeoning field that provides new tools to examine emerging challenges, such as risk adjusting measures for socioeconomic status.”

AJMC and NQF encourage Twitter users to submit questions and participate in the chat on Wednesday, August 26, by using #AJMCchat. And don’t forget to follow @AJMC_Journal, @NatQualityForum, and @HelenBurstin.

NQF’s president and chief executive officer, Christine K. Cassel, MD, wrote a special guest commentary for AJMC in May highlighting how meaningful measurement can drive greater value in healthcare.
