At the National Association of Managed Care Physicians (NAMCP) Spring Managed Care Forum 2023, presenters will speak on topics in value-based care from a business standpoint and managed care decision-making across a host of disease settings. The 2-day forum kicks off on Thursday, April 27, in Orlando, Florida, and the stacked agenda features more than 30 sessions grouped into 3 main tracks: business, health management, and oncology.

The Spring Forum is a joint effort among the NAMCP Medical Directors Institute, the American Association of Integrated Healthcare Delivery Systems, and the American Association of Managed Care Nurses.

On the business side, key themes include value-based care in several settings, fostering population health, and increasing value for patients. Sessions in the health management track will include treatment considerations for a range of clinical settings. The oncology track will dive deep into managed care decision-making and the latest treatment best practices in several cancer types, including hematological malignancies and solid tumor cancers.

In his day 1 keynote address, Jacque Sokolov, MD, president and chairman at SSB Solutions, will look to the future of the health care space. His presentation will home in on several key facets of the evolving health care market and opportunities for improvement.

“This spring forum in 2023 is arguably one of the most unique forums I think I've ever had the opportunity to keynote,” Sokolov told The American Journal of Managed Care® in an interview. “The year is post pandemic, and now we're endemic in terms of COVID-19. The clinical, business, and operational models that are transforming health care have been amplified, and we're all starting to understand how they are affecting everyday life in terms of the health care sectors we deal with.”

On day 2 of the conference, Craig Pederson, principal at Insight Health Partners, will deliver a presentation on the challenges facing providers in their efforts to implement value-based care while succeeding financially—a crucial concern for providers transitioning from traditional fee-for-service reimbursement structures.

Throughout the business track of the meeting, value-based care will remain in the spotlight, including sessions on “Driving Value-Based Care in an Expansive Integrated Healthcare System,” “Shifting Volume to Value: How Primary Care Physicians Will Reshape Healthcare,” and “The Future of Sustainable Value in Healthcare.”

In the health management track, attendees will have opportunities to learn about the latest treatment goals and considerations in a range of common and rare conditions, including pulmonary arterial hypertension, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis, insomnia, and others. Likewise, the oncology track comprises deep-dive presentations on the management of a variety of cancers, including non–small cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, acute myeloid leukemia, breast cancer, and more.
