Karen Ignagni, President and CEO, AHIP, Discusses Value-Based Payment Models

Karen Ignagni, President and Chief Executive Officer, AHIP, says that we need to move from paying hospitals and clinicians based on volume to the value of services provided. In this video, Ms. Ignagni addresses the need to change the way payment is designed and delivered.

The accountable care organization and patient-centered medical home models are ways healthplans can work with providers in care coordination. Ms. Ignagni says that there have been tremendous developments in the discussion between healthplans and providers in how the reimbursement system will be redesigned and how it will be paid for.
