The upcoming Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health (GPBCH) 2024 Mental Health Summit aims to address the growing recognition among employers of the critical role mental health plays in workplace productivity and overall well-being, according to GPBCH President and CEO Neil Goldfarb.
Over the past decade, workplace culture has shifted from focusing primarily on physical health to embracing a more holistic view of well-being, including mental health. Employers now understand that addressing mental health concerns, like depression and anxiety, can reduce both direct and indirect costs while fostering a healthier, more productive workforce. However, many still struggle with effectively implementing strategies that create a supportive culture and leverage existing resources like Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). This summit seeks to provide practical solutions and tools to address these challenges.
The event will feature a 3-part agenda designed to guide employers through understanding workforce mental health needs, building a culture around health, and exploring innovative treatment approaches. The program includes sessions on generational differences in mental health needs, the role of coaching and peer support, and advancements such as prescription digital therapeutics and psychedelics.
The daylong meeting will conclude with a panel of employers sharing their experiences, challenges, and best practices. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to enhance mental health support in the workplace, often by maximizing existing resources in innovative ways.
