An article by EHR Intelligence referenced a study published in the January 2020 health information technology issue of The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®). The study, titled “Predicting Hospitalizations From Electronic Health Record Data,” found that prediction models using electronic health record—only, claims-only, and combined data had similar predictive value and demonstrated strong discrimination for which patients will be hospitalized in the ensuing 6 months.
The Orange County Register featured a study published in the August 2019 issue of AJMC® titled “Influence of Out-of-Network Payment Standards on Insurer—Provider Bargaining: California’s Experience.” The study determined that California’s experience implementing a policy to address surprise medical billing demonstrates that out-of-network payment standards can affect prices and network breadth through influencing payer—provider bargaining leverage.
The Pharma Letter’s piece “Illuminating pro-opiomelanocortin deficiency” cited a June 2016 AJMC® supplement article, “Obesity: Definition, Comorbidities, Causes, and Burden.” The article highlighted the significant risk that obesity contributes to conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, major depressive disorder, and nonallergic rhinitis.
A January 2019 article on AJMC® titled “Is 2019 the Year Healthcare Becomes Consumer Friendly?” was spotlighted by the Indianapolis Business Journal, which described how the emerging retail approach being adopted by urgent care clinics is resulting in shorter wait times and consumer-friendly features.
