In a national effort to improve healthcare and related social needs for the 1 in 5 Americans on Medicaid, 17 health systems have joined together to form the Medicaid Transformation Project. Created by AVIA Health Innovation and former CMS Acting Administrator Andy Slavitt, the health systems represent 5% of the nation's hospitals and spans 21 states.

The project has set a focus on addressing 5 critical challenges that face the Medicaid population, including behavioral health and avoidable emergency department visits. To get more insight into how the project will address these challenges, The American Journal of Managed Care® sat down with Molly Coye, MD, executive-in-residence of AVIA.
