Starting with a contract that works for both parties involved is the best way to ensure payers and providers will work together, said Craig Thiele, MD, chief medical officer of CareSource.

Partnerships can often only be so effective, he explained, because it’s tough to get to all the right people at all the right levels in order to get full, system wide engagement.

“The key is it’s got to work and incentivize the whole system, not just pieces within a health partner system, to work with us,” he said.
