Bruce Feinberg, DO, Discusses Cost Effective Cancer Treatment

Bruce Feinberg, DO, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Cardinal Health Specialty Solutions, says cancer treatment is more than clinical guidelines, protocols, or individual drugs.

Bruce Feinberg, DO, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Cardinal Health Specialty Solutions, says cancer treatment is more than clinical guidelines, protocols, or individual drugs. A comprehensive program must include a complex drug regimen in addition to supportive care, diagnostics, monitoring, and many other treatment plan options.

“I think it’s important when we talk about disease, and in particular cancer, that we’re not just focused on drugs,” says Dr Feinberg.

For providers to deliver better quality and more cost effective cancer care, Dr Feinberg suggests that a collaborative approach is critical between payers and providers. To improve care delivery, for insatance, providers will need to communicate with payers on how changing reimbursement models can promote quality.
