A group of 700 independent Portland doctors, both primary care and specialty, have come together to form a new accountable care organization.
Care Connect Northwest was formed by the Portland InterHospital Physicians Association. Portland IPA was formed in 1983 to support independent practices and help them remain independent.
The IPA (not to be confused with India Pale Ale) encompasses 2800 doctors from all specialties. The new ACO seeks to improve and coordinate care for thousands of patients and to create a local structure for commercial and Medicare contracting.
