This award recognizes young medical professionals who are making strides in the field of managed care.
CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Journal of Managed Care® (AJMC®) honored Dr. Ilana Graetz from the University of Tennessee as the recipient of the 2017 “Seema S. Sonnad Emerging Leader in Managed Care Research Award” during the Patient-Centered Oncology Care® meeting on November 16th.
“Dr. Graetz exemplifies the values and qualities of the ‘Seema S. Sonnad Emerging Leader in Managed Care Research Award’. Her extensive background in research, academia, and publications focused on topics relevant to managed care makes her truly deserving of this award. We are proud to recognize dynamic and well-versed professionals like Dr. Graetz who are making a huge impact in the field,” said Jeff Prescott, PharmD, senior vice president of Managed Markets.
Dr. Graetz, an assistant professor (tenure track) in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, has published over 17 articles in some of the industries’ top-tier journals, including AJMC®. Her articles highlight the impact of the use of health information technology on care processes and patient outcomes in managed care settings. She also serves as the principle investigator on three grants, one of which is researching the return on investment from implementation of electronic health records.
Prior to her doctoral training, Dr. Graetz worked at the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research, where she collaborated with Doctors John Hsu and Mary Reed in research projects, which were documented in AJMC®. These projects focused on electronic health records and patient-initiated emails in conjunction to out-of-pocket costs.
This award was established in honor of Seema S. Sonnad, Ph.D., the former associate editor for AJMC®, who passed away in June 2015. Dr. Sonnad served as a mentor to many young investigators and prior to her passing, she was an advocate for the creation of an award that recognizes and encourages early career achievements in the field of managed care.
