During the AcademyHealth 2019 National Health Policy Conference held in Washington, DC, healthcare stakeholders from across the country joined to make sense of healthcare policy and examine new and innovative ways of addressing a person's health. During the conference, several themes emerged: the role healthcare played in the recent midterm elections, recognizing the importance of what happens outside a doctor's office on a person's health, and the growing importance of data to inform decisions on both quality and cost of care.

In this podcast, we speak with 3 health experts about these topics and the role they continue to play in healthcare.

  • Melinda Buntin, PhD, professor in the department of health policy at Vanderbilt University Medical Center
  • Bechara Choucair, senior vice president and chief community health officer of Kaiser Permanente
  • Chris Coloian, MHA, executive vice president of Cotiviti
