MUSC Receives $5 Million Donation for Children's Hospital

In support of the pediatric heart treatment program at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital, local businessman Gene Reed Jr has donated $5 million.

In support of the pediatric heart treatment program at the Medical University of South Carolina Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital, local businessman Gene Reed Jr has donated $5 million. The new hospital is expected to open this fall.

The facility's Gene Reed Jr Heart Floor will include 2 cetheterization/electrophysiology suites and 2 cardiac-specific operating suites. It will also allow for hybrid catheterization procedures for the diagnosis and advanced treatment of children born with congenital heart defects. Read more on the new hospital.
